Privacy When you sign up, LavaNet collects contact information which may include your name and postal address, contact number(s), preferred email address, preferred method of payment and a "secret question/secret answer" set for later identity verification when personal information must be shared by telephone. We may also ask about your computer software and other information required for the delivery of requested services. Your application form resides at our main administrative office. The electronic record generated by this form is used in our billing database. Relevant parts of the information you provide to us are used in our billing records and as necessary for the provision of LavaNet services. We retain credit card information supplied by customers. Credit card numbers are processed in accordance with the policies and procedures required by our financial institution. In the case of account termination for nonpayment and failure/refusal to pay, customer information may be shared with collections agencies. Some services require that customer information be placed in public or third party databases. In these cases, the LavaNet application form explicitly states this so customers can make an informed choice. For instance, information for domain registrations (including your name, organization name, address, email address and contact numbers) becomes part of a public registry accessible worldwide. An example of third party databases would include DSL accounts, which require a local circuit associated with your telephone number, which is provisioned via the phone company. When LavaNet orders this on behalf of our client, relevant data (including the service level requested) is shared in order to allow us to fulfill the order. Compelled Disclosure If LavaNet is legally compelled to disclose information you have provided, we will attempt to notify you, unless otherwise prohibited, that a request for your information has been made in order to give you an opportunity to object to the disclosure. We will attempt to provide this notice by email to your LavaNet email address of record, or via postal mail if no LavaNet email address exists. If you do not challenge the disclosure request to the appropriate authorities within the given deadlines, we may be legally required to disclose your information. Questions or concerns regarding LavaNet's privacy policies can be directed to: privacy@lava.net. |
