NOC Features & Technology

Quality assurance is LavaNet's expertise. The LavaNet network is built for superior fault-tolerance. Features include a LavaNet-owned backup generator, independent air conditioning, network monitoring (for LavaNet and customer interfaces) and more.

LavaNet's Responsible Growth policy means no customer is added unless all resources (from bandwidth capacity to sufficient staffing) are there to serve them correctly. Hawaii is geographically isolated, so the choice of Internet backbone connections is crucial for meeting customer needs. LavaNet purchases feeds through multiple "tier-one" national backbone providers. By balancing these feeds across telco-grade routers, LavaNet offers superior fault-tolerance. Should one backbone experience trouble, the network continues running so seamlessly that most users may never even notice a disruption.

LavaNet's NOC is one of a small number of Hawaii mirror sites selected by Silicon Valley's Akamai Networks to host an "Akamai Server cluster", speeding delivery of heavily-requested Internet content around the world.
